Our hearts are heavy as we learn about the potential loss of critical funding for Lee Specialty Clinic, a specialized healthcare provider serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) throughout Kentucky.
For many individuals with Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, seizure disorders, mobility challenges, and other complex support needs, Lee Specialty Clinic is not simply a doctor’s office—it is a trusted healthcare home where providers understand their unique medical, sensory, behavioral, and communication needs.
If these reported funding cuts move forward, approximately 1,000 patients could lose access to specialized care, and many families may be left struggling to find healthcare providers equipped to serve their loved ones.
This issue affects:
Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Family caregivers
Residential providers
Adult day centers
Community support programs
Direct Support Professionals
Guardians and advocates throughout Kentucky
We believe every person deserves access to compassionate, dignified, and specialized healthcare.

How could the funding for the Lee Specialty Clinic be cut??? This clinic serves the MOST underserved people in our community! Andy Beshear wants to be president, so I guess he will forget this segment of our population too. He needs to use the proceeds from the book he is hocking! What can be done? Parents, friends and special educators will come out of the woodwork to protest this. DO SOMETHING morally right for our community. Get this clinic funded.
Hello,
Thank you for your initiative to try to save the Lee Clinic. I’m a speech therapist who has many graduates of our program who go on to depend on services at the Lee clinic.
In addition to listing Gov Beshear as a contact, the reporters of the LFPM article linked above told me that these legislators could be influential. I looked up their email contacts and am sharing below:
